
Sea Dogs win in fourteen innings, 14-13

After five hours and 30 minutes and 557 total pitches thrown, the Sea Dogs win in the bottom of the 14th, 14-13 over the Trenton Thunder on Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field. Brandon Moss smacked an RBI, bases-loaded single off the Maine Monster for the game winner.
Sunday was the longest game in franchise history for the Sea Dogs, who beat position player J.T. Stotts when he entered the game in the 14th inning. Trenton ran out of pitchers after using five relievers.
Jon Searles (4-3) picked up the win, working the final two innings, allowing one run on two hits. Mike Bumatay fired three scoreless innings for Portland and Rusty Tucker added 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.
The Sea Dogs scored seven times in the second and three in the fourth to take an 11-2 lead. The Thunder scored the next 10 runs, tying the game at 11 in the eighth inning on Randy Ruiz's two-run homer. Justin Christian knocked in the go-ahead run with an RBI single.
Tyler Minges (2-for-7) doubled home Bryan Pritz with two outs in the ninth inning, sending the game to extra-innings. Bronson Sardinha gave Trenton a 13-12 lead with an RBI single in the top of the 13th, Chris Durbin led off the bottom of the inning with his third home run of the season.
Chad Spann finished 4-for-7 with three runs scored, Dusty Brown added three hits and 4 RBI. Sardinha went 5-for-7 for Trenton and scored twice.
Notes...Portland established a franchise record with eight doubles...Chris Smith allowed seven runs, the most he's surrendered all season...Justin Pope blew just his second save of the season for Trenton.
