Mets explode late in 7-2 win Sunday over New Hampshire

(Binghamton) - Binghamton (37-44) scored three runs in the seventh and eighth innings and beat New Hampshire (36-44) 7-2 Sunday afternoon before 2,331 at Nyseg Stadium.

Mets catcher Mike Deflice doubled in three runs with the bases loaded in the 7th inning to give Binghamton its first lead. RF Ambiorix Concepcion also drove in three runs with a bases loaded double in the 8th for Binghamton, which has beaten New Hampshire six straight times.

Fisher Cat starter Jesse Litsch, in his first start since being promoted from Class-A Dunedin, allowed 1 ER on 3 hits, working six innings. He walked no one, and struck out five.

New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. 1B Chip Cannon doubled and scored on DH Ron Davenport's single.

The Mets tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI triple by CF Carlos Gomez (2-for-3, RBI, 2 R).

The Fisher Cats went back in front in the sixth. Curtis Thigpen singled, and came around to score on a single by 3B Danny Solano off eventual winning pitcher Orlando Roman (3-2).

Danny Hill (1-4) took the loss for New Hampshire.

The four-game series concludes Monday night in Binghamton with RHP Mike MacDonald (7-4, 3.54) on the mound for New Hampshire against LHP Rich Rundles (0-1, 5.06) scheduled for the Mets.
