HEADLINES: RedHawks play two today ... Another quality start for RedHawks ... Dickey returns
TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Nashville Sounds are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Last year, they were 75-69 and won the Pacific Coast League championship 3-0 over Tacoma. They have been a member of the PCL since 1998.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their 12-game road trip in Nashville. This is their 69 and 70th games this season, 38 and 39th road game and ninth and 10th games against Nashville. The RedHawks are on a stretch where they will play 24 of 32 games on the road May 18-June 18.
LAST GAME: The RedHawks were shutout for the third time in the last 10 games, 3-0 by Nashville. The RedHawks last three losses have been by shutout. Nick Masset pitched a complete game for the RedHawks, going eight innings and giving up three runs on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts. He allowed two baserunners after the fourth inning. Jamie Burke was two-for-four with a double for the RedHawks.
VS. NASHVILLE: The RedHawks are 64-70 against the Sounds since the two teams joined the PCL in 2005. The RedHawks are 32-37 all-time at Greer Stadium. They entered the season 63-63 overall against the Sounds, 31-31 against them at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark and 32-32 against them at Greer.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Game one starting pitcher R.A. Dickey returns from the DL to make his first start since May 25 at Colorado Springs. He went four innings and gave up seven runs, six earned on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts in a 9-8 RedHawks loss. He did not factor into the decision. Game two starter Kevin Walker makes his second start of the season. He started June 3 against Iowa and went three innings, giving up no runs on two hits. Justin Lehr starts game one and Jared Fernandez starts game two for Nashville .
STREAKERS: Outfielder Laynce Nix is on a five-game hitting streak dating back to June 11. He is 7-for-19 (.368) with a double and an RBI during the streak to raise his average from .262 to .274 (12 rise). Relief pitcher Erasmo Ramirez has not given up a run in his last six outings (8.1 IP). He has given up two hits, no walks and struck out eight in his last six outings.
EDINSON VOLQUEZ: Starting pitcher Edinson Volquez was named PCL pitcher of the week for the week of June 5-11. This is the 15th time in club history a RedHawk has been named pitcher of the week and the first since Ricardo Rodriguez May 24-30, 2005 . After his 10-strikeout performance last night, Volquez is tied for the PCL lead in strikeouts at 85 with Tucson 's Francisco Cruceta.
STARTING PITCHERS: In the last 18 games, Oklahoma starters have seven wins. They have given up 31 runs, 29 earned over 106.2 innings (2.45 ERA) with 44 walks and 95 strikeouts. RedHawks starters have 12 quality starts in the last 18 games.
BULLPEN: The RedHawks bullpen has given up two runs in the last seven games (0.93 ERA - 2 ER/19.1 IP). During that span, the bullpen has given up nine hits, four walks and struck out 21. The RedHawks bullpen ERA has dropped from 4.13 to 3.85 (.28 drop) in the last seven games.
HOME RUNS: The RedHawks have hit four home runs in their last 13 games. All were hit by Jason Hart , June 8 and 10 at Omaha and June 14 and 15 at Memphis.
CLOSE GAMES: Twenty-six of Oklahoma 's 34 wins this season have come by four runs or less, including 15 one-run wins. Also, 26 of Oklahoma's 34 losses this season have come by four runs or less. They have nine losses by one run, eight losses by two runs, five losses by three runs and four losses by four runs.
RADIO UPDATE: The RedHawks' flagship station for most games is KEBC 1340 AM. However, there are a few dates the flagship station will change due to scheduling conflicts. The RedHawks will be on AM 1000 KTOK June 24. They will be on KFXY 1640 The Score June 25.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: Relief pitcher Wes Littleton has stranded six inherited runners (none allowed) in his first six outings as a RedHawk ... Relief pitcher Erasmo Ramirez has stranded all 11 runners he has inherited this season.
