Baysox second telecast hits the air Saturday

The Bowie Baysox, Class "AA" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles have announced a partnership with CN8, The Comcast Network, to air two live Bowie Baysox home games during the 2006 season. This will be the third season that CN8 has aired Baysox home games.

The second scheduled televised game will take place Saturday, May 6th at 7:05 pm when the Baysox take on the Akron Aeros at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, MD. The Baysox were last featured on CN8's airwaves during the 2004 season, when Prince George's Stadium hosted the Eastern League All-Star Game. The Baysox first scheduled televised game in 2006 was on Saturday, April 22nd vs. New Hampshire. That contest was rained out and will be made as part of a double header on August 25th at 5:35 pm. Currently, that game is not scheduled to be televised on CN8's airwaves.

The CN8 broadcast tandem will be comprised of play-by-play voice Dave Popkin and Bob Montgomery doing color commentary. Popkin enters his third year as the baseball play-by-play announcer for CN8 - The Comcast Network. Popkin has called numerous sporting events for CN8 since its inception in 1996, including: football, basketball, softball, and hockey. The 34-year old New Jersey Shore native enters his 10th season calling minor league baseball, having spent time with the Sioux City Explorers, Iowa Cubs (AAA), El Paso Diablos (AA), and Newark Bears.

Montgomery, a 10-year major league veteran, spent his entire career with the Boston Red Sox (1970-79) as their backup catcher (387 games, .258 batting average, 23 HR's & 156 RBI). He will bring an array of experience to the broadcast booth on the CN8 telecasts. After retiring from baseball, Montgomery worked on radio talk shows until 1982, and then became the color analyst for Red Sox games broadcast on WSBK TV-38 for the next 14 seasons. Montgomery currently works for Cox TV3 in Rhode Island serving as an analyst for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox.

CN8 will feature several Eastern League match ups throughout the 2006 season.
