Spokane Chief Athletic Therapist Darcy Bishop will leave this weekend for his post as the Athletic Therapist for Canada's National Junior Championship team. Bishop will be gone for Team Canada's World Junior Team Selection Camp and the World Junior Championships through the medal round that will end on January 5th. The Calgary, AB native has been the Chiefs Athletic Therapist for the past five seasons.

"I'm excited," Bishop said. "With the tournament being held in Vancouver, this is going to be a special year and I couldn't be happier to have the honor of working for Team Canada again."

Bishop will be replaced on the Chiefs bench by Whitworth Physical Therapy's Holly Rushing, a 2004 EWU graduate. Holly is a Spokane native and attended Rogers High School before earning her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training.

This past summer, Bishop served as Team Canada's Equipment Manager for their silver medal winning Under-18 Junior World Cup squad that featured Spokane Chief forward Adam Hobson.

Bishop had previously served as the Head Athletic Therapist for Canada's 1998 National Junior Hockey team and the 1996 gold medal winning Under-18 team.

The 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships will be held in Vancouver, Kamloops and Kelowna, British Columbia December 26th through January 5th. Canada is the defending gold medal winners.
