July 30, 2005 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Delmarva Shorebirds News Release
The Lake County Captains RHP Cody Bunkleman pitched seven innings of shutout, no-hit baseball before being lifted for a major leaguer on a rehab assignment. Cleveland Indian Jason Stanford came on in relief in the eighth inning and walked the lead off man Juan Gutierrez who was moved to second on an Eric Grimm sacrifice bunt. Stanford then retired Quincy Ascencion on a grounder to third. Arturo Rivas pinch ran for Gutierrez and was singled home by Gary Cates for the first hit on the night for Delmarva. An error on 3B Matt Whitney kept the inning alive and allowed Gary Cates to score and Pete Shier to move to second. Jake Duncan then followed with an RBI single to left. Things got interesting in the bottom of the ninth when the Captains tacked on one, but Justin Henington earned his eighth save by forcing Wyatt Toregas to ground out with the bases loaded.
