July 19, 2023 - It didn't take long for the best player in the USFL to find a new opportunity in the National Football League.
Two weeks after leading the Birmingham Stallions to a second straight USFL championship, quarterback Alex McGough has signed onto the 90-man roster for the Green Bay Packers after a Tuesday workout, the Packers announced on Wednesday.
The Stallions announced on social media that McGough has been released to sign with an NFL team.

July 2, 2023 - CANTON, Ohio - Seated at the center of the table in the bowels of Tom Benson Pro Football Hall of Fame Stadium on Saturday night, Birmingham Stallions coach Skip Holtz was asked a simple question: Was the man seated to his right, Alex McGough, an NFL quarterback?
It was a fair question. McGough did not start the season as the team's starting QB, but had taken over, crafted an MVP season, and finished it all off with a 28-12USFL Championship victory over the Pittsburgh Maulers.

Alex McGough stepped in at quarterback for the Birmingham Stallions when starter J'Mar Smith was injured in Week 1. July 5, 2023 - Birmingham Stallions quarterback Alex McGough, cornerback JoJo Tillery and and running back CJ Marable swept the final round of honors for the season as they were named OurSports Central United States Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the USFL Championship Game.
