Zoe Hickel, Amanda Pelkey, and Gigi Marvin Join Boston Pride

Boston, MA- Zoe Hickel, Amanda Pelkey, and Gigi Marvin will join the Boston Pride for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Hayley Moore announced Sunday. Hickel and the Pride agreed to terms on a one-year, $16,000 contract. Pelkey agreed to terms on a $17,000 contract. Marvin and the Pride agreed to a one-year, $20,000 contract.

"Amanda is a dynamic player who learned great patience last season, which has made her speed and skill even more deadly to her opponents," said Moore. "And Zoe battled back from injury that gave her a new level of mental toughness and has elevated her game. These two will add another level of depth to our offensive lineup we are very excited to put together."

Hickel played in 15 regular season games with Boston in 2015-16, scoring 7 points (3g, 4a). Pelkey scored 10 points (7g, 3a) in 16 games. Both players added 4 points (1g, 3a) in the playoffs. Pelkey and Hickel played for USA Hockey at the 2016 IIHF World Championships.

Marvin, a defenseman, scored 14 points (5g, 9a) in 16 games with the Pride last season. She scored another 7 points (2g, 5a) in four playoff games on the way to the Isobel Cup championship. Marvin played for USA Hockey at the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games.

"Gigi came up big in some crucial moments in our quest for the Isobel Cup," said Moore. "She is strong, poised, and quietly dangerous on the blue line. Her passion is felt by her teammates and is truly contagious. She will continue to deepen our defensive unit and adds leadership to this group."

Restricted free agency began on April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft was on June 18.
