
Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno Join Connecticut Whale

Northford, CT - Haley Skarupa and Dana Trivigno will join the Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Lisa Giovanelli announced Sunday, Both Skarupa and Trivigno agreed to terms with the Whale on one-year, $20,000 contracts.
"Skarupa is a strong skater, with excellent hands and a knack for scoring, and Trivigno is a true hockey player with great knowledge and vision for the game," said Head Coach Heather Linstad. "Both players are a fantastic addition to our forward group, and will be relied upon to make things happen on the ice."
"I am so excited to be a part of the NWHL and cannot wait to represent the Connecticut Whale," said Skarupa. "Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way. Fins up!"
Skarupa and Trivigno played for Boston College from 2012-2016. Trivigno played in 148 games, scoring 138 points (57g, 81a). Skarupa scored 244 points (115g, 129a) in 144 games. Both players have played in two IIHF World Championships with USA Hockey.
"I couldn't be more excited to be joining the NWHL and playing for the Connecticut Whale," said Trivigno. "Thank you to everyone involved in the process. Go Whale!"
In the 2015 NWHL Draft, Skarupa was selected 5th overall by the New York Riveters, and was later traded to the Whale for Michelle Picard. Trivigno was chosen 13th overall by the New York Riveters in the 2015 NWHL Draft, but was traded to the Whale for Hannah Brandt and a $2,000 Draft Tax.
With the addition of Skarupa and Trivigno, the Connecticut Whale has a full roster for the 2016-17 season.
Restricted free agency began on April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft was on June 18.
