Patty Kazmaier Recipient Alex Carpenter Joins Boston Pride

Boston, MA - Alex Carpenter will join the Boston Pride for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Hayley Moore announced Sunday. Carpenter and the Pride agreed to terms on a one- year, $19,000 contract. "There are few pure goal scorers in hockey, and Alex is one of those players who just knows how to find the back of the net,"Â said Moore. "Her Boston roots will make her a fan favorite, and she's still getting better every day. I look forward to seeing Alex continue to grow and "wow" our fans."
Carpenter graduated from Boston College in 2016, where she scored 279 points (134g, 145a) in 150 games. The forward was the recipient of the 2015 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. With USA Hockey, Carpenter has played in three IIHF U-18 World Championships, two Four Nations Cup tournaments, and three IIHF World Championships. The 2015 NWHL Draft first overall pick also helped the US win a silver medal at the 2014 Olympic Games.
The Boston Pride traded for Carpenter from the New York Riveters for 2015 NWHL Draft 15th overall pick Miye D'Oench and a $2,000 Draft Tax.
Restricted free agency began on April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft was on June 18. About the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) The NWHL is the first professional women's hockey league in North America to pay its players.
The inaugural season began October 11, 2015 with the Founding Four: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters. The Boston Pride became the first team in NWHL history to raise the Isobel Cup on March 12, 2016.
