
Ivana Bilic Signs with Connecticut Whale

Northford, CT - Ivana Bilic has signed a contract with the Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Lisa Giovanelli announced Sunday . Bilic and the Whale agreed to terms on a one-year, $14,000 contract.
"Ivana is a solid defenseman who can block a lot of shots," said Giovanelli. "She's a great addition to our defensive core and will make our blue line even stronger."
Bilic joins the NWHL on the last day of Free Agency from Bemidji State, where she played since 2012. The defenseman scored 61 points (13g, 48a) in 128 games. The Coquitlam, BC native attended the 2015-16 Hockey Canada Selection Camp.
Bilic replaces Shannon Doyle on the Whale's roster. Doyle will remain with Connecticut as a practice player for the upcoming season as she pursues other career opportunities.
