Zephyrs Take Rainiers, 7-5, in 15 Innings

TACOMA, Washington -- Royce Huffman drove in the go-ahead runs in the top of the 15th inning to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs past the Tacoma Rainiers, 7-5 on Sunday in Tacoma.

After a pair of walks and an RBI double by John Buck, Huffman stroked a two-run single to center field with two outs to give New Orleans a 7-4 lead. Huffman, who collected four hits, also ripped an RBI single in the fourth inning. Eric Bruntlett clubbed a two-run homer and Jason Lane launched a solo shot two batters later in the fifth inning for the Zephyrs, who improved to 8-4 this year in extra-innings contests. Rob Stanifer (4-0) allowed a run and two hits over the final two innings to pick up the win.

Pat Borders tied the score at 4-4 in the ninth inning for Tacoma with a pinch-hit, RBI single. Mickey Lopez hit a solo shot in the 15th inning, his third of the year, and Greg Colbrunn connected on his first homer of the year, a two-run shot in the fourth. Scott Atchison (3-3) surrendered three runs, two hits and two walks over four innings to take the loss for the Rainiers, who dropped to 20-18 this year at Chaney Stadium.
