New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Metairie, LA - The Zephyrs were shut out by the visiting Oklahoma RedHawks on Wednesday by a score of 8-0.
Oklahoma starting pitcher Derek Lee (1-1) evened his record after throwing a complete game shutout in which he gave up only three hits. Lee barely missed facing the minimum number of batters in the game before Zephyrs second baseman Brendan Harris recorded a hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Offensively the RedHawks were led by designated hitter Jason Botts, who had a three-run homer in the third inning. The majority of the runs were scored in that inning, as Oklahoma put six runs on the board.
Zephyrs starter Matt White (4-4) picks up the loss after giving up six runs (five earned) on 11 hits in six innings of play.
The loss gives Oklahoma a 2-1 edge in the series. The teams will continue on Thursday with a 7:05 PM CT contest.
