Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Sidewinders, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, and national cable network Spike TV will team up for men's health on Friday, July 29 when the Sidewinders meet the Okalahoma RedHawks. That night the Sidewinders will host Spike TV's national men's health awareness campaign CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT, which is traveling to 23 minor league baseball clubs throughout this summer, and offer free basic health screenings at Tucson Electric Park (2500 East Ajo Way, Tucson) from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
"Seeing the doctor once a year can help you live a longer and healthier life" says Todd Ames, Senior Director of Marketing for Spike TV. "Check Up or Check Out is a simple, yet effective way for men to put their personal health into perspective."
The Tucson Sidewinders and "Spike TV's CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT" health screening event will take place on Thursday, July 28 from 6:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. on at Gate A near the Team Shop. Medical partner Tucson Medical Center will conduct the free basic non-invasive health screenings for visitors consisting of checks of blood pressure and pulse checks. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
In addition to the health screenings, Spike TV will give away t-shirts to the first 200 fans who get a basic health screening on that day. Copies of Spike TV's CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT 10-point men's health inspection card and information about specific health issues critical for men will be available to all game attendees.
Spike TV launched CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT, a national awareness campaign targeting men's health, in April 2004. The campaign is designed to raise awareness of men's health issues as both a social and medical concern and encourages men to get an annual physical, a first line of defense against preventable diseases. CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT promotes healthy lifestyle choices among men and motivates men to take a proactive approach to their health.
Spike TV has partnered with Minor League Baseball for a 2005 national summer tour of CHECK UP OR CHECK OUT, where the campaign will stop at 23 minor league venues around the country and Canada including Toledo, OH; Durham, NC; Las Vegas, NV; Ottawa, Canada; Memphis, TN and Brooklyn, NY, among others.
