TODAY'S OPPONENT: The New Orleans Zephyrs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1998. They were affiliated with the Houston Astros from 1997-2004.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue their series with New Orleans . They are 5-5 on Wednesdays. A win today would give the RedHawks at least a split on this road trip. It would be their first non-losing road trip since they took seven of eight on a trip to Memphis and Iowa .
STANDINGS: The RedHawks are in third place, seven games behind Albuquerque .
LAST GAME: Pitcher R.A. Dickey went 5.2 innings in relief and gave up no runs on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts as the RedHawks beat New Orleans 11-3. The Zephyrs didn't score after the second inning. Chad Allen went three-for-six with a three-run home run for the RedHawks. Adrian Gonzalez, Keith McDonald and Jason Conti also had three-hit games.
VS. NEW ORLEANS: The RedHawks are 2-8 against New Orleans this season. They are 33-28 all time at Zephyr Field and are 20-25 there from 2000 to present. The Zephyrs have already surpassed their win total against Oklahoma last season. The Zephyrs have won the season series from Oklahoma once, going 8-7 against the RedHawks in 2000.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Oklahoma 's Derek Lee makes his sixth start for the RedHawks. Other than his start at Albuquerque , Lee is 0-1 with a 3.42 ERA. However, he has not received more than one support run in a start outside of Albuquerque . He averages 0.75 [3R, 4GS] support runs outside of Albuquerque and 1.6 [8R, 5GS] overall. Matt White starts for New Orleans. He started against Oklahoma June 11 and went six innings, giving up one run on three hits, including an RBI triple to Manny Alexander to earn the win.
STREAKERS: Relief pitcher Michael Tejera has stranded all 25 runners he has inherited this season. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez is on a six-game hitting streak dating back to July 14. He is 12-for-27 [.444] with 10 RBIs during the streak. Outfielder Chad Allen is on a five-game hitting streak dating back to July 15. He is 9-for-24 [.375] with three RBIs during the streak.
DIVISION: The RedHawks finished their season series 11-5 against division-leading Albuquerque . They are a combined 5-17 against Round Rock and New Orleans .
LONG RELIEF: Pitcher R.A. Dickey's relief outing of 5.2 innings was the longest by a RedHawk out of the bullpen this year. Jason Standridge held the previous high with five innings on May 30 at Memphis.
TRANSACTIONS: Outfielder Jason Botts was optioned by Texas to Oklahoma ... Catcher Gerald Laird was placed on the DL ... Catcher Brian Esposito was promoted from AA Frisco to Oklahoma ... Pitcher Ryan Snare was released.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: The RedHawks are 0-6-3 in their last nine series. They last won a series June 4-7, taking three of four at home against Albuquerque ... The RedHawks gained a game on first-place Albuquerque for the first time since July 6 when they won at Albuquerque. It was the first time they gained a game on Albuquerque without playing the Isotopes since June 14 when the RedHawks won to extend their lead in the division to four games ... Last night was the first time the RedHawks held an opponent to three runs since June 30 when they lost to Iowa, 3-0 ... When catcher Brian Esposito gets into a game for the RedHawks, he will be only the third catcher used by the RedHawks this year.
