New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
The Oklahoma City Redhawks used three pitchers to shutout the New Orleans Zephyrs 3-0 at Bricktown Ballpark. It was the seventh time this season the Z's were shutout.
Elizardo Ramirez pitched six shut out innings to earn the win for Oklahoma City. Mike Hinckley pitched a scoreless inning and Jailean Peguero pitched the final two innings to earn the save. The Z's had a few offensive chances. New Orleans loaded the bases in the ninth, when three batters all reached on walks. John Raynor grounded into a controversial game ending double play ball. Raynor hit a grounder to the pitcher, he threw home for an out and then threw to first base. The throw hit Raynor and the umpire ruled runners interference and it ended the game.
The Z's Gookie Dawkins and Jai Miller had two hits for the Z's. John Koronka pitched five innings, allowed one run and takes his tenth loss of the season. Game Notes: The Zephyrs are 6-7 on the trip. The Marlins promoted Z's outfielder Cameron Maybin, Catcher Brett Hayes, and pitcher Rick VandenHurk.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and RedHawks continue a four game set from Oklahoma City on Wednesday at 7:05. The Zephyrs will start LH Andrew Miller against LH Bryan Corey for OKC. RADIO: AM 690 WIST
