Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - New Orleans shutout Memphis 3-0 Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Three Zephyrs pitchers combined to hold the Redbirds to a season-low four hits and send the âBirds to their fourth straight defeat. New Orleans starter Eude Brito tossed four scoreless innings before giving way to the bullpen. Jose Santiago gave up two hits in his four scoreless frames and Ivan Maldonado closed out the victory in the ninth inning. Santiago picked up the win and Maldonado earned his third save of the year.
Anderson Hernandez drove in a run and went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Z's. Jon Jay had two of the Redbirds four hits in the loss. Memphis starter Mitchell Boggs was pegged with the loss allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts over six innings.
The âBirds and Zephyrs conclude their series tomorrow night with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Adam Wainwright is scheduled to make his second rehab start with Memphis and New Orleans will send right-hander Robert Parnell to the bump.
