Game Keys - The Zephyr pitching staff limited the Redbirds to four hits and shutout Memphis on Sunday afternoon 3-0. The Z's used Eude Brito as a spot starter and the lefty worked four shutout innings and allowed one hit. Jose Santiago pitched four scoreless innings allowing a pair of hits and earned the win. Ivan Maldonado pitched the ninth and earned his third save of the season. New Orleans silenced Memphis with their league leading 12th shutout of the season. Memphis was shutout for the 4th time this year. New Orleans scored a run in the fifth inning with a two out RBI single from Anderson Hernandez. The Z's added a second run with a homer from Raul Casanova in the sixth inning. The Z's winners of seven of their last nine have moved to 5 ½ games back of first place Oklahoma with 22 games to go. The Redhawks play at Albuquerque on Sunday night.
Game Notes: The Z's used a spot starter for the 4th time in their last 15 games ..... Brito became the 13th pitcher to start a game for the Zephyrs ....The Z's pitchers have allowed 5 runs in the three game series at Memphis to have a 1.67 ERA in 27 innings .... The Zephyrs improved to 24-26 under Marty Scott ... New Orleans and Memphis have each played 63 games decided by two runs or fewer, the most in the PCL ... The Z's are 42-15 in games in which they score first. Z's rightfielder Valentino Pascucci extending his streak to a league best 36 consecutive road game on-base streak, during which he is batting .310 (40x132) with 28 walks and a on base percentage of .430...
Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Memphis will meet in the final game of the four game series on Monday night at 7:05PM. The Z's will start RH Bobby Parnell (AAA Debut) against RH Adam Wainwright (0-1, 40.50). Wainwright will make his second rehab start for Memphis. RADIO: AM 690 WIST.
