New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

With a little help from Mother Nature, the New Orleans Zephyrs pulled off something that had not been accomplished in four years of playing the Round Rock Express. Shawn Wooten delivered an RBI double and Jesus Feliciano drove in the other run on a groundout in a two-run second inning, giving the Zephyrs a rain-shortened 2-0 win in five innings over the Express.

After last night's rainout, the Zephyrs finished with a three-game sweep of the series, the first time either team had earned a series sweep at Zephyr Field since Round Rock joined the Pacific Coast League in 2004.

Ruddy Lugo (3-1) needed only 64 pitches to get through five innings to pick up the win, the last of which came with a heavy rain falling in the top of the fifth.

Round Rock center fielder Reggie Abercrombie reached on an infield single with one out, but was thrown out attempting to steal second by Wooten. Edwin Maysonet then popped out to shortstop Anderson Hernandez, prompting the umpires to call for the tarp.

Fernando Tatis led off the winning rally in the second with a hustle double into left-center field. He scored after Chris Aguila walked and Wooten doubled past left fielder Nick Gorneault.

The win was the Zephyrs' third in a row, tying a season high.

The Z's embark on a road trip through the Pacific Northwest tomorrow, starting with a four-game series in Tacoma. First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. Central time.
