Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

For the second time during the four-game series, Colorado Springs rebounded from a blow-out loss with a blow-out victory of its own, this time, downing the RiverCats 11-2 in front of 3,531 fans at Security Service Field on Sunday afternoon.

Greg Reynolds picked up his first victory in a Sky Sox uniform while showcasing the potential that made him the second overall pick in the 2006 draft. The former Stanford product pitched eight strong innings of two-run baseball, marking his best performance of the young season.

The Sky Sox batters had a banner day at the plate as well. Cory Sullivan provided three hits and scored a run in his return from an illness. Ian Stewart and Humberto Cota also notched three base hits as the Sky Sox tied a season high with 17 base hits.

Gio Gonzalez (0-1) saw his E.R.A. shoot up from 2.50 to 3.91 after allowing five runs in just five innings of work in a losing effort.

The Sky Sox travel to Nashville tomorrow for a four-game set with the Sounds. Lefty John Koronka (0-2, 6.33) will get the call from the Sky Sox while right-hander Richie Gardner (0-0, 5.40) will take the hill for the Sound. The first pitch is set for 6:00 CT.
