York Takes Series With 5-3 Win

York, PA - The York Revolution (33-28) defeated the Somerset Patriots (38-22) 5-3 Saturday evening from humid Sovereign Bank Stadium in front of 6,039 fans.

In the bottom of the first inning third baseman Wilson Batista pounded a solo home run (3) to right-center field to give the Revolution an early 1-0 lead.

In the ensuing half inning first baseman Eddy Martinez-Esteve slugged a home run (3) over the left field wall to even the contest at 1-1.

Somerset grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the top of the third inning on designated hitter Jake Fox's RBI double.

York tied the game at 2-2 with Batista's RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the sixth inning left fielder Cody Johnson slugged an opposite field two strike, two out three run home run to give York a 5-2 lead which they would not relinquish.

The Patriots scratched across a run in the top of the eighth inning on right fielder Corey Aldridge's solo home run (3) to cut the deficit to 5-3 which would be the final score.

Stephen Penney (2-2) earned the win in relief. Brad Thompson (4-3) suffered the loss lasting 5.2 innings and giving up four runs. Juan Rincon notched his team leading 12th save of the season pitching a perfect ninth inning.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, June 24th when the Patriots return home to take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 p.m. The game features Bark in the Park Night where all fans are allowed to bring their dog to the ballpark.
