York Revolution News Release

On the night that the York Revolution welcomed their 1,000,000th fan through the gates of Sovereign Bank Stadium, they earned their 138th win all-time in their home digs, as Corey Thurman stifled the Camden Riversharks in a 4-1 victory before a crowd of 4,102 on Tuesday night in York. The Revs pulled into a tie with the Lancaster Barnstormers for first place in the Freedom Division's second half. Their six-game homestand continues on Wednesday.

Thurman (9-8) allowed just three hits in seven masterful innings, while giving up only one run. He struck out four and walked two, while throwing 103 pitches. It was his eighth consecutive win against Camden, as he improved to 8-1 lifetime against the Sharks, 4-0 in 2010.

The Revs staked Thurman with an early lead, as Jose Herrera lined a double on the right field line with two outs in the first, scoring Liu Rodriguez all the way from first base for the game's first run.

Camden tied things in the fourth, when Teuris Olivares lined a triple just out of the reach of a diving Erold Andrus in right field for Camden's first hit, and scored on Brian Burgamy's single to right field. Burgamy pulled ahead of Ramon Castro for the league-lead in RBI with his 78th. Thurman settled back in, however, and allowed only one more hit the rest of his night, which came from the next-to-last batter he faced, Raul Padron with two outs in the seventh.

The Revs answered the tie by scoring twice in their half of the fourth, grabbing the lead for good. Herrera led off with a line drive to left, and ended up with a double when left fielder Sean Smith tripped and fell in front of the ball. James Shanks then singled to right, advancing Herrera to third. Shanks stole second, and with one out, Ian Bladergroen lashed an RBI single into right field, plating Herrera. Shanks scored with two outs on a wild pitch.

Shanks added an insurance run on an RBI single to right field in the fifth.

Sean Stidfole worked a scoreless eighth inning, and R.J. Rodriguez improved to 6-for-6 in save opportunities with a scoreless ninth.

Notes: Four-year-old Josiah Greene was the 688th fan through the gates on Tuesday night, becoming the one millionth fan in Revolution history. He was honored with 2011 season tickets, a ceremonial first pitch, and was named King of the Stadium for the night, among receiving other prizes. Bladergroen extended his on-base streak to nine consecutive plate appearance on his fourth inning single; at that point he was 2-for-2 on the night (finished 2-for-4), and also had a hit in eight of his previous nine at-bats, and had reached safely in 12 of his previous 13 plate appearances. Bladergroen was recognized before the game for his three-homerun performance on Sunday evening in Lancaster. The Revs had only been in first place for one day in the second half prior to tonight (July 29, following a four-game home sweep of the Riversharks). The Revs are now 11-4 vs. Camden this season, and have won all five meetings in the second half. Celson Polanco (1-1) will make the start on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., against Camden's Gabe Alfaro (2-4). It is Ballpark Bizness Networking Night, and a Wing Wednesday. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office. Playoff tickets are also on-sale for the Revs' Sprint to the Championship!
