June 1, 2016 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release
(York, Pa.)- Hall of Famer Chris Doleman will return this Friday to the city that started him on the road to the NFL. The 1980 York High graduate will be honored as part of the York Revolution's Celebrate York Series presented by Memorial Hospital. The first 1,500 fans at PeoplesBank Park for the Revolution's game against the Lancaster Barnstormers will receive the bobblehead, which features Doleman in his York High uniform.
A 6-foot-5, 290-pound defensive end/linebacker, Doleman played for the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers in a 15-year NFL career that included eight Pro Bowl appearances and earned him enshrinement in the Hall of Fame in 2012. He began playing football for the Boys Club of York before joining the York High football team.
The bobblehead is the fourth in the Celebrate York series, which honors significant figures and events in York history as part of the Revolution's tenth anniversary season. For Doleman, however, it's a first.
"I've had dolls and those kinds of things-well, action figures, that's more of the manly term," Doleman said chuckling. "But I don't think I've had a bobblehead. So I'm honored. Anything that I can do to come back to the community and give back to the community, I'm all for it."
Doleman will be on hand for pre-game ceremonies, including a ceremonial first pitch and an address to the fans. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.; game time is 6:30 p.m. For tickets, go to www.yorkrevolution.com, call (717) 801-4487, or stop by the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office at PeoplesBank Park.
