Yard Goats Score Four in Fourth for Victory

Hartford, CT - RHP Andrew Quezada hurled 5.2 scoreless innings, and Yanquiel Fernandez cracked a two-run double to highlight a four-run fourth inning as the Yard Goats defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 4-3 in front of the 14th consecutive sellout at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. Quezada permitted just five singles and had a pair of strikeouts helping the Yard Goats end a five-game losing skid. The Yard Goats begin a six-game road trip in Portland, Maine on Tuesday, and return to Dunkin' Park on Tuesday, August 15th to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
The Yard Goats rallied for four runs in the fourth inning off Reading starter Zach Haake. Grant Lavigne was hit by a pitch and Jordan Beck walked before Yanquiel Fernandez belted a double to center field, scoring the two baserunners and giving Hartford a 2-0 lead. After Warming Bernabel walked, Drew Romo singled home Fernandez to make it 3-0. Bladimir Restituyo followed with a sacrifice fly and Bernabel scored and it was 4-0.
Hartford starting pitcher Andrew Quezada pitched 5.2 scoreless innings and allowed just five hits, two walks and had two strikeouts before turning over a 4-0 lead to the bullpen in the sixth inning.
Reading scored three runs in the seventh to make it a 4-3 game. Cam Cannon led off the inning with a home run and the next two runs scored on a ground out and sacrifice fly. Relievers Stephen Jones and Victor Vodnik retired eight of the final ten batters of the game in the victory.
The Yard Goats begin a six-game road trip in Portland, Maine on Tuesday at 6:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Park for their next homestand on Tuesday, August 15th (7:10 PM) to host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
