Binghamton Drops Series Finale with New Hampshire

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (16-16, 51-50) fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 8-4 on Sunday night at Mirabito Stadium. The Ponies took four out of six games in the series.

New Hampshire (10-20, 45-53) took the lead in the first inning. Steward Berroa hit a leadoff double on the first pitch of the game and Alan Roden later drove him in on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0.

The Ponies tied the game in the first. Luisangel Acuña hit a leadoff single and Jeremiah Jackson later drove him in on an RBI fielder's choice to make it 1-1.

In the fourth inning, Binghamton grabbed the lead. Agustin Ruiz clobbered a solo home run down the right field line that made it 2-1. It was Ruiz's team-leading 13th long ball.

The Fisher Cats clawed back ahead on a three-run homer from Miguel Hiraldo in the fifth that made New Hampshire's lead 4-2.

The Ponies tied the game again in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Drew Gilbert. On the same play, Gilbert got caught in a rundown and César Berbesi was able to score to tie the game at 4-4.

New Hampshire scored four runs across the final two innings, highlighted by an eighth-inning RBI single from Andres Sosa and an RBI double from Riley Tirotta. Sosa drew an RBI walk in the ninth to extend the lead to 8-4.

The Rumble Ponies will begin a six-game road series with the Somerset Patriots at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM and pregame coverage will begin at 5:50 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Acuña extended his hitting streak to five games...Gilbert went 2-for-3 with an RBI, which marked his second-straight multi-hit game...José Peroza and Berbesi also had a multi-hit games...Joey Lancellotti tossed two scoreless innings with a strikeout in his Double-A debut.
