Reading Fightin Phils News Release

(Hartford, CT) - It was a quiet Sunday as the Reading Fightin Phils (16-16, 44-56) fell 4-3 to the Hartford Yard Goats (13-18, 42-56) to finish this week's six-game series. The Fightin Phils conclude the series with a 5-1 record.

Both teams' runs all came in one inning respectively for each. Hartford got on the board first thanks to a four-run bottom of the fourth inning. Grant Lavigne led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch, then Jordan Beck walked. Yanquiel Fernandez followed with a double that scored both Lavigne and Beck. Drew Romo was next and singled home Fernandez to extend the lead to three. Finally, Bladimir Restituyo hit a sacrifice fly that plated Bernabel and make it 4-0.

Reading's three runs came in the seventh frame. Cam Cannon led off the inning with a solo home run. Ethan Wilson singled and Jhailyn Ortiz followed with a double to put runners on second and third. Baron Radcliff grounded out to score Wilson, then Max McDowell hit a sacrifice fly that brought home Ortiz and made it 4-3.

Zach Haake (L, 0-2) started for Reading and lasted 4.2 frames. The righty allowed four runs on four hits and struck out four. Keylan Killgore, Adam Leverett, Max Kuhns, and Orion Kerkering followed out of the bullpen and combined to allow no runs on just two hits over 3.1 innings.

Andrew Quezada (W, 3-5) got the start for Hartford and was stellar, snapping a rough week for Yard Goats' starting pitching. Quezada went 5.2 shutout innings and scattered five hits and two walks, while also adding a pair of strikeouts. Austin Kitchen was roughed up in relief for three runs, then Stephen Jones and Victor Vodnik (S, 2) threw the following two innings to finish off the win.

Reading's attempt at a six-game sweep fell short, but the Fightin Phils still finish off their best series of the season with five wins. Overall, the Fightin Phils won the season series over the Yard Goats 14-10, including a 9-3 record in Hartford.

After an off day Monday, Reading continues its season-long 12-game road trip Tuesday night at New Hampshire. Pitching matchups have not been announced yet. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and video coverage is available on MiLB TV or the Bally Live App.

The Fightin Phils return home Tuesday, August 15, to begin a six-game series with the Somerset Patriots (Yankees). Tickets to all games are available at rphils.com/tickets, by calling 610-370-BALL, or in-person at the Customers Bank Ticket Office.
