Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Bowie, MD - Elehuris Montero and Coco Montes each blasted two home runs, and Jameson Hannah had four hits as the Yard Goats pounded the Baysox 13-6 on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. The 18 hits were a season-high for the Yard Goats who also tied a season-high with 13 runs. It was the first time that two players had multiple homer games for Hartford since July 14, 2017 when Brendan Rodgers and Drew Weeks each went deep twice. Yard Goats reliever Michael Baird fired 2.2 hitless and scoreless innings with six strikeouts to record the win. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday night (7:05 PM) to host the New York Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
The Yard Goats scored twice in the first inning on back-to-back home runs by Elehuris Montero and Coco Montes off Bowie starter Blaine Knight. It was the second time of the series that Hartford hit consecutive homers.
After the Baysox got a run off Hartford starter Karl Kauffmann in the second inning, the Yard Goats scored three times in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. The frame was highlighted by a two-run homer by Coco Montes, his second in two at-bats. Bowie got a bit closer in the fifth inning as Kyle Stowers belted a two-run shot and made it a 5-3 game.
The Yard Goats got some breathing room in the sixth inning by putting up five runs and taking a 10-3 lead. Jameson Hannah had a two-run single and Montero then capped the rally with a solo homer, his second of the game. Hartford added a run in the eighth inning on Montero's RBI single, his fourth RBI of the day, and ninth inning hits by Max George and Jose Gomez stretching the lead to 13-3. The Baysox got a three-run homer in the ninth inning by Patrick Dorian.
