Hartford Yard Goats News Release

Harrisburg, PA - The Hartford Yard Goats scored six runs over the last four five innings, but their rally fell short as the Harrisburg Senators held on for an 8-6 win on Friday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Down 7-0 heading to the fifth inning, Hartford got an inside the park home run from Brenton Doyle, and then scored four runs in the sixth inning capped by a two-run triple by Doyle. The Yard Goats pulled within two runs as Ezequiel Tovar drove in Jameson Hannah in the eighth inning to make it 8-6. Hartford had the bases loaded in the eighth inning and the first two batters reached in the ninth but the Senators got two double play grounders in the last two innings to hold on for the win. Wilson Garcia and KJ Harrison hit homers for the Senators who improved to 12-7 on the season.

The Senators jumped on the Yard Goats with a two-run homer by Wilson Garcia in the first inning off Hartford starter Noah Davis. Harrisburg added five runs in the third, highlighted by a three-run homer by KJ Harrison. The Yard Goats also made an error which led to a run. Senators starter Cole Henry did not allow a hit over his four innings of work and recorded his fourth start scoreless start. The Nationals prospect has not allowed a run in four starts (13 innings) this season. He departed after four innings and 56 pitches with his team leading 7-0.

The Yard Goats would try and stage a comeback against the Senators bullpen. Brenton Doyle got Hartford first hit, which was an inside the park home run which landed at the base of the centerfield fence. It was Yard Goats first inside the park homer since current Rockies infielder Alan Trejo's on May 28, 2019 against Portland. The homer made it a 7-1 game.

The Yard Goats continued to pound away and in the sixth inning Kyle Datres knocked in Tovar from second base to make it 7-2. Brenton Doyle followed with a two-run double, scoring Michael Toglia and Datres and it was 7-4. Doyle scored on Nico Decolati's gounder to make it 7-5. Harrisburg got a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 8-5.

Hartford would make it 8-6 in the seventh inning as Tovar drove home Jameson Hannah who had tripled off former Yard Goat Brian Gonzalez. The Yard Goats loaded the bases but settled for the one run. Hartford also had chances in the eighth with first and second and one out, and the ninth as the first two batters reached. However, Matt Brill shut the door as he got a double play grounder to end the game and earned his seventh save.

The Yard Goats and Senators will play game five of the six-game series at 6:00 on Saturday night at FNB Field in Harrisburg, PA. RHP Karl Kauffman will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Steven Fuentes will start for the Senators. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9. The Yard Goats return to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday, May 3rd (7:05 PM) against the Mets affiliate, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.
