Pitcher's Duel Falls in Favor of Fisher Cats

Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils dropped a pitchers duel to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 2-1, on Friday night.

The Fisher Cats scored twice in the fifth, with solo homers off the bats of Will Robertson and Ryan Gold.

Reading cut their lead in half, 2-1, when Wendell Rijo drove home Jhailyn Ortiz on a ground ball.

Both teams had more opportunities to score with New Hampshire leaving seven runners on and Reading eight. The bullpen was dominant on either side not allowing a run late in the contest.

Adam Leverett was on fire striking out a season high to seven batters in five innings of work. He allowed two solo home runs in seven hits. Austin Ross was first out of the bullpen with two clean innings of work sending down the Fisher Cats in order. Julian Garcia pitched a scoreless frame in the eighth.
