OKLAHOMA CITY YARD DAWGZ (1-3) vs Bossier Shreveport BattleWings (2-2)
Saturday, May 8, 2010 - Cox Convention Center 7:05 P.M. CST
The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz take on the Bossier Shreveport BattleWings, Saturday, May 8, at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. CST. This game marks the first meeting between the Yard Dawgz and BattleWings as AFL franchises. The two teams met six times while members of arenafootball2. The BattleWings led the af2 series 4-2.
Both teams come into Saturday's match up after experiencing tough losses, the Dawgz to the Dallas Vigilantes (34-55) and the BattleWings to the Utah Blaze (46-65). The Dawgz and BattleWings will both be trying to get back on the winning track this Saturday night and one of the keys to the game will be the stout Dawgz defense versus the very efficient BattleWings offense. The Dawgz defense is currently ranked 3rd in both pass defense and total defense and 4th in scoring defense. On the other side of the ball, BattleWings quarterback Raymond Philyaw comes into the game ranked second in the AFL in pass efficiency (131.7) and completing 69% of his throws.
When asked about this weekend's match up, Yard Dawgz Head Coach Sparky McEwen commented, "This is a huge conference game and a chance to put ourselves in the thick of the race in the early half of the season. We understand that winning at home is a major priority and will put forth our best effort to date. After the Dallas game, we truly felt that we need to raise the talent level of our ball club in order to compete at the highest level. Changes will be made."
