Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Yannick Riendeau ["ree EN doe"] has been assigned by the Boston Bruins from the Providence Bruins of the AHL to Reading. In a separate transaction, the Marlies recalled goaltender Ben Scrivens from the Royals. In other transactions announced today, the Royals (i) activated Eric Castonguay from the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (ii) transferred defenseman Dallas Jackson from the 3-Day Injured Reserve to the 7-Day Injured Reserve; (iii) placed forward Devin Timberlake on the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (iv) signed goaltender Brent Troyan as the team's Emergency Back-Up Goaltender.

Riendeau (5'10/186) (22), a second year pro who hails from Boucherville, Quebec, has played in five games for the P-Bruins this season and has picked up two penalty minutes. He had a couple of productive stints with the Royals last year, including an explosive first round playoff series against the Kalamazoo Wings until he sustained a season-ending injury in Game Five of the American Conference Quarter-Final series. In his first game with Reading during the regular season, Riendeau racked up a goal and assist for the Royals in a 5-3 win over the Wheeling Nailers on February 14, 2010. But it was a goal that he scored against the Nailers in his second stint with Reading-on April 2, 2010, in the second to last game of the regular season-that proved somewhat more memorable. With the Royals down 6-5 and needing at least a tie against the Nailers to lock up the final available playoff spot in the ECHL, Riendeau bagged the critical game tying goal at the 9:19 mark of the third period, completing a three goal third period comeback. Riendeau continued his scoring prowess for the Royals in the playoffs, registering at least a point in the first four games of the best-of-five series before sustaining an injury blocking a shot early in the decisive Game Five. Prior to turning pro, Riendeau had an explosive final season of major junior with the Drummondville Voltigeurs of the QMJHL, as he led the league in regular season (58g-68a126pts in 64 games) and playoff (29g-23a52pts in 19 games) scoring. The Voltigeurs not only won the QMJHL regular season, but also won the President's Cup for the playoff championship with Riendeau taking home the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the playoff MVP.

For Scrivens, this marks his second recall to the Marlies, although he is yet to play in a game for them. Scrivens has a 4-3-0-0 record in seven games with Reading. His 2.46 goals against average is ninth best in the league; and his .931 save percentage is fourth best. Castonguay, who has been on the injured reserve since November 4, has scored a goal and picked up three assists (four points) in six games with the Royals this year. Timberlake has registered two penalty minutes in four games with Reading. Tonight marks the first game this season that Brent Troyan will serve as the team's EBG. He will wear number 33.

The Royals are in Trenton, New Jersey tonight (Wednesday, November 17 @ 7:00 pm) where the team will face the Trenton Devils for the third time this season at Sun National Bank Center. The pre-game warm-up show presented by The Works at Wyomissing will kick off on the Royals Broadcast Network (WRAW 1340 am in Reading, www.1340wraw.com) at 6:30 pm.
