The goaltenders highlighted the opening period of play as neither team could break through for the game's first goal. Machesney turned aside each of the eight shots he faced, while Hirsch stopped all 10 pucks that went his way. The team's took their scoreless tie into the first intermission.
Bakersfield opened the scoring for the game at the 4:10 mark of the middle period off Stephane Goulet's sixth goal of the season. Defenseman Brendan Milnamow carried the puck down the left boards and put a shot on net, where Goulet backhanded the rebounded from in front past Machesney. The Salmon Kings drew even on the power play at 11:41 when Ryan MacMurchy skated the puck into the slot on a pass from P.J. Goulet collected the puck behind the Salmon Kings' net and fed a streaking Mark Magnowski in the slot who beat Machesney's glove with a one-time shot into the net. Magnwoski's tally was his second of the year. Victoria pressed in the final two minutes of the period with an extra attacker, but the Condors banked an empty-net goal at 19:18 courtesy of Rylan Kaip's fifth goal of the season to round out the scoring.
