Staten Island Yankees News Release
[Staten Island, NY] - Staten Island suffered its second shutout in as many days as they were blanked by the Hudson Valley Renegades, 1-0. The Yankee consecutive scoreless inning streak is now up to 22. The team has not scored since the fourth inning of their 7-3 win over Auburn on July 24.
The two teams combined for just seven hits, with the Yankees having four of the seven. However, Hudson Valley's John Jaso had the big hit, a solo home run to right field on a 3-2 count off of Matt DeSalvo for the only run of the game.
DeSalvo had an outstanding night otherwise, limiting the Renegades to just one run on two hits, striking out seven and walking three in four innings of work. Jeff Karstens held the Renegades to just one hit, walking one and striking out three in five innings of relief.
Staten Island and Hudson Valley will face off again tomorrow at Dutchess Stadium. They will complete the suspended game from July 22, with the score tied at three in the bottom of the 11th inning. Upon the completion of that game, the Yankees and Renegades will face off in a seven-inning game. Game time is scheduled for 5:11 p.m.
