Cyclones Knock off Muckdogs in Tenth, Complete Sweep

Batavia, NY - The Muckdogs were unable to outlast the Brooklyn Cyclones again, this time dropping a 6-4 decision, which allowed Brooklyn to sweep Batavia in the three game series.

Brooklyn started the scoring in the second inning, pushing two runs across against starting pitcher Jean Machi. Ender Chavez reached base on a fielder's choice, stole second, and scored on a single by David Reaver. Stacy Bennett who had reached on a walk also scored on a single by Yunir Garcia. Runs scored in the third and fourth innings would boost Brooklyn's total to 4.

Jake Blalock walked and would be driven in by teammate J.D. Foust in the second inning to start things off for the Muckdogs.

Batavia scored two in the fourth when Bryan Hansen led off with a single and went to third on a double by Foust. Third baseman Zach Norman would plate his two teammates with a double to left field.

Trailing by a run in the fifth inning, Omar Bramasco walked and scored when Hansen doubled down the right field line.

The game would stay tied until the tenth inning when Brooklyn was able to break the scoring gap open. Ender Chavez walked as did Stacy Bennett. Both runners advanced on a fielder's choice from Reaver. A throwing error by Muckdog Zach Norman would allow Chavez to score, and a sac fly from Shawn Bowmann was responsible for the second run of the inning.

Muckdogs pitcher Matt Padilla (1-2) took the loss, while Rafael Castro got the win. Carlos Muniz pitched a scoreless tenth for his twelfth save of the year.

Batavia is home on Saturday to host the Auburn Doubledays, it is Turn Back the Clock night at Dwyer Stadium, fun and great prices for all.
