AUBURN, NY - On Friday, July 25, the Auburn Doubledays announced that shortstop Aaron Hill and pitcher Jamie Vermilyea have been called up to the Dunedin Blue Jays (A-Advanced) of the Florida State League.

Aaron Hill was drafted 13th overall in the first round of the 2003 June Entry Draft out of Louisiana State University.

In just 33 games with the Doubledays, Hill batted .361 with four homeruns and 34 RBI. He was named the New York Penn League Batter of the Week for June 23 through June 29 hitting over .500 with one homerun and ten RBI. At .361 Hill is third among hitters in the New York Penn League, third in RBI (34) and fourth in on-base percentage (.446). On July 12 at Keyspan Park against the Brooklyn Cyclones, Hill notched a team high six RBI going 1-for-3 with two sacrifice flies, a three-run homerun and a fielder's choice. The Blue Jays drafted Vermilyea in the 9th round of the 2003 June Draft out of the University of New Mexico.

In nine appearances, Vermilyea amassed a 5-1 record with a 2.37 ERA to go along with a league leading 53 strikeouts. His five wins are the most of any pitcher in the NY-P and eighth in terms of ERA (2.37). On July 7, Vermilyea made his first professional start against the Hudson Valley Renegades. He pitched four scoreless innings facing twelve batters recording ten strikeouts with only one batter hitting the ball out of the infield.

The Doubledays return home to Falcon Park to meet the Batavia Muckdogs on Sunday, July 27 on Baseball Chapel Community Night at 6:05 PM. All General Admission tickets will be free compliments of the Baseball Chapel. A non-denominational religious service will be held starting at 4:30 PM with guest speaker Randy Tomlin. Tomlin is a former Major League pitcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. There will also be a fireworks display following the game.
