Florence Y'alls News Release
WASHINGTON, Penn. - The Florence Y'alls swept the doubleheader with the Washington Wild Things with complete victories on Saturday night at Wild Things Park in Washington.
In game one, Florence scored in three consecutive innings to take the 6-0 victory. Chad Sedio hit his 10th and 11th home runs of the season, bringing his RBI total to 50 on the year.
Jonathan Tripp dominated on the hill for Florence, allowing just three hits in the team's first complete-game shutout of the 2021 season. Tripp did not walk a batter and struck out six Wild Things. With the win, Tripp improves to 6-1 on the season.
In game two, it took grinding out at-bats in the fifth inning for Florence to take the lead. A bases-loaded, one-out single by shortstop Luis Pintor put the Y'alls ahead 2-1.
From then, it was phenomenal bullpen outings from Edgar Martinez and Joe Dougherty that sealed the victory. Martinez came in with one out and the tying run in scoring position in the fifth to relieve starter Kevin Hahn. Martinez struck out one and got a batter to pop up to get out of the jam.
Dougherty tossed a 1-2-3 seventh to earn his ninth save of the season and bring the Y'alls to a tie for first place in the Frontier League West Division with the Evansville Otters. Kevin Hahn earned the win.
