Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - It was Joliet's night on the mound. Backed by a stellar seven innings pitched by Cam Aufderheide and completed by a scoreless two-inning save for Chris Roycroft, the Slammers beat the Florence Y'alls 4-2 Tuesday night at Duly Health and Care Field.

Aufderheide was dealing from start to finish. The righty retired the first 10 Y'alls batters he faced, including striking out the side in the second inning. He struck out the final two batters he faced to wrap up his outing with six total strikeouts. The lone blemish on his line was a two-run home run given up to Anthony Brocato in the sixth inning - the only offense Florence would get all night.

The Joliet (11-12) bats immediately backed Aufderheide's strong start with a three spot in the bottom of the first inning. After Florence starter Yonaiker Villalobos retired the first two batters, he allowed the next five to reach base, four via base hit. Lane Baremore drove in two with a double and Matt Burch followed with a RBI-single.

The Y'alls (7-14) pulled within a 3-2 score thanks to Brocato's shot in the sixth, but Joliet wasted no time getting a run back with a Phillip Steering line drive home run to left field to make it 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth. That closed the book on Villalobos after five-plus innings and four earned runs, three walks and one strikeout.

Yasel Santana struck out six batters in three scoreless innings of relief for the Y'alls. Alberti Chavez had two hits and has hit safely in 14 of 15 games played this year. Harrison DiNicola hit his eleventh double of the season. Brylie Ware had a pair of two-baggers for the Slammers.

The loss drops the Y'alls to 1-6 on the road this season. They turn to Jared Cheek tomorrow in the middle game of the series. Joliet counters with Cole Cook. First pitch from Joliet is 6:35 PM central/7:35 PM eastern.
