FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y'alls (34-47), presented by Towne Properties, allowed double-digit runs for the second consecutive night and fell 18-8 to the Evansville Otters (45-35) in a series-clinching defeat at Thomas More Stadium.

A high-scoring start to the game saw Evansville take an early lead. In the first inning, left fielder Noah Myers walked to start the game, then stole second. Two batters later, right fielder Jeffrey Baez doubled home Myers to give Evansville a 1-0 lead. Evansville piled on four more in the second against Y'alls starter Bobby Brabrand (4.0 IP, 10 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 1 K). Third baseman Jomar Reyes, shortstop George Callil, and Noah Myers all collected RBI doubles to give Evansville a 5-0 lead.

Florence cracked the scoreboard for the first time with a pair of runs in the second. A run-scoring error to bring home shortstop Ed Johnson from second and an RBI single from designated hitter Tristin Garcia brought Florence to within three, but Evansville scored another run in the third. Down 5-2, the Y'alls rallied in the third with their longest inning of the night. After a leadoff error put catcher Zade Richardson aboard, center fielder Ray Zuberer hit a two-run home run - his third home run of the series - to bring the Y'alls to within a run. Two batters later, Ed Johnson's RBI single tied the game 5-5, scoring second baseman Jeremiah Burks from second. Florence left the bases loaded in the inning and ultimately would not score again against righthander Justin Watland (6.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 8 BB, 4 K), who threw 128 pitches in a winning effort.

Evansville touched up Florence's pitching staff for three more runs in the fourth, five runs in the sixth, and two runs in each of the eighth and ninth innings. Three Evansville hitters (Noah Myers, Dakota Phillips, and George Callil) finished with four or more hits. Evansville's nine doubles in the game set a franchise single-game record.

With the defeat, the Y'alls lose the series 2-1 and have fallen behind in the season series 5-4. The Y'alls continue their week with a weekend road trip to Joliet to play the Slammers for the first time since May. Game 1 from Joliet is scheduled for Thursday, August 18th at 6:35 p.m. CT.
