Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - The Florence Y'alls (2-1), presented by Towne Properties, relied on some early fireworks to grab the series win against the Québec Capitales (1-2) to open up the 2024 regular season.

A four-spot in the first inning gave the Y'alls just about all they needed. Catcher Zade Richardson continued his unreal start with his 11th RBI. Right fielder TJ Reeves added some frosting to the cake with his first home run of the year, bringing around three more tallies in the process.

That wasn't the end for Richardson who boosted his resume with a triple in the fourth inning. Florence made a meal out of extra-base hits with the Reeves homer in the first, a double from designated hitter Craig Massey in the second, another two-bagger from shortstop Alberti Chavez in the third, and the Richardson triple in the fourth.

Starting lefthander Jonaiker Villalobos went four innings allowing two runs on six hits and striking out three. He started off his season taking down the top of the Capitales' order one, two, three.

The relievers carried a heavy load after with Joe Kemlage grabbing the snake win, surrendering two runs on two hits in three innings of work. The next two arms went hitless, taking down Québec in order in the eighth and ninth frames. Ben Terwilliger, the home crew's only right-hander of the night, struck out the side in his first appearance of 2024. Kent Klyman followed in suit with one strikeout.

That brings the Y'alls to a 2-1 record, and Florence is currently undefeated when putting up more than two runs in the first frame, putting up five on Opening Day on Thursday and four on Saturday night.

The Y'alls check into the Central Time Zone on Tuesday, heading out to Chicago to face the Windy City Thunderbolts for the first time in 2024.
