Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
Pensacola, Fla. (February 17, 2011) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers are proud to announce that Dean Yakura has been called up to the ECHL and the Idaho Steelheads.
Dean is the first Ice Flyer to be called up to the next level for the organization. "We could not be happier for Dean. He's a very driven and motivated athlete and his presence will certainly be missed but we are excited for him and for his future." Coach Todd Gordon said. "This league is all about the development of players and Dean is a prime example of a young athlete, coming in, working hard and being rewarded for his efforts."
Within a day, Yakura received the call, packed up his things and began his journey to Boise, Idaho. "It was such a surprise ... I have loved my time here in Pensacola playing with the Ice Flyers. I will definitely miss my teammates, the great Ice Flyer fans, and this great weather." Yakura commented. Dean is expected to make his debut appearance in the ECHL this weekend for the Steelheads.
