SPHL Disciplinary Committee Rules on Suspensions
February 17, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release
CHARLOTTE, NC - The SPHL, in conjunction with the league's Disciplinary Committee, today announced the results of two separate appeals of recent disciplinary action assessed by the League Office.
Augusta's Aaron McGill
The SPHL Disciplinary Committee upheld the suspension of Aaron McGill for the remainder of the 2010-2011 regular season and playoffs.
Mississippi's Matt Zultek
The SPHL Disciplinary Committee increased the suspension of Matt Zultek from seven to 10 games.
"While we feel the League Office made a fair and reasonable decision in regard to the original suspension, the Disciplinary Committee felt that the severity of the cross-check and the deliberate targeting of the player's head warranted additional games," stated Tim Kerr, Chairman of the Board. "As owners, these incidents directly affect each of us and the Committee wanted to send a stronger message to the players that this conduct will not be tolerated."
