IceGators' Versteeg-Lytwyn Named SBK Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 16, 2011) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn of the Louisiana IceGators is the SBK Player of the Week for February 7-13.

Versteeg-Lytwyn scored three goals and added an assist as the IceGators went 2-0 for the week, sweeping a home-and-home series with the Pensacola Ice Flyers.

On Friday, the Sharon, Ontario native scored twice, including the game-tying goal with just 14 seconds left in regulation as the IceGators rallied from a 4-2 deficit to defeat Pensacola 5-4 in overtime. Versteeg-Lytwyn then scored his third goal of the weekend and added an assist in leading Louisiana to a 4-1 win over the Ice Flyers on Sunday.

Since being claimed off waivers by the IceGators, Versteeg-Lytwyn has recorded eight points in six games (4g, 4a). Now in his fifth professional season, Versteeg-Lytwyn has averaged over a point-per-game since joining the SPHL last year, notching 77 points in 80 games with Fayetteville and Louisiana.
