X's take game one from Shreveport

SIOUX CITY - The Sioux City Explorers defeated the Shreveport Sports, 6-0, Sunday night at Lewis and Clark Park. The win improves the X's to 33-32 (8-8 second half), and the loss drops Shreveport to 33-32 (7-10 second half).
Sioux City starter Aaron Marsden started off hot, and never cooled down. Marsden threw a complete game, five-hitter, didn't allow a run, and struck out six. Marsden was helped out early and often from the X's offense as well. Sioux City got runs in the bottom of the second, third, fourth, fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth.
In the second, Jorge Moreno reached when Shreveport right fielder Austin Easley dropped a fly ball. Moreno would score on a Chris Grossman fly out to center. Zack Pace scored in the third on a Jake Daubert single to center.
Run support continued in the fourth when Grossman doubled to right, and scored on an Alex Llanos single to left center. In the fifth, JJ Burress singled, stole second and scored on a Ryan Gripp fielder's choice. The X's added their final two runs in the sixth when Alex Llanos homered to center, and Zack Pace scored on a Burress single.
Marsden picked up his third win of the season, evening his record. Shreveport starter Eric Wikstrom (8-3) took the loss, going five innings, allowing six hits, four runs, walking four and striking out one.
JJ Burress was 3-5 at the plate, scoring once and driving in one. Alex Llanos was 2-4, with two RBIs and one run scored. Jake Daubert, Jorge Moreno, Chris Grossman and Mike Richardson each had one hit.
Sioux City and Shreveport will face-off Monday night at 7:05 at Lewis and Clark Park. Karsten Gaarder (1-3) will start for the X's and Ryan Snyder (3-5) will take the mound for the Sports.
