Lincoln continued to crawl its way back toward the top of the North Division after beating St. Paul. After spending the majority of the second half at the bottom of the standings, the Saltdogs have now won eight of their last 11 games to move within a game of first place. Starting pitcher Ben Fox was outstanding, allowing just one run, earned, on five hits through 8 1/3 innings to improve to 7-2 on the year. Lincoln got multi-hit games from CF Evan Tartaglia, RF Bryan Warner and DH Brett Cooley en route to 10 hits in the game and a two-run victory.

Sioux City starting pitcher Aaron Marsden induced 2/3 of the 27 outs he recorded via the strikeout, he had six, or groundout, he induced 12, en route to a masterful, five-hit shutout of Shreveport. With the win Marsden improves to 3-3 on the year and the Explorers move to 9-8 for the second half, a 1/2 game out of first place in the North Division. Sioux City 2B Alex Llanos had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4, including his sixth home run of the season, with a run scored and two runs driven in. SS J.J. Burress was also impressive offensively. He was 3-for-5 on the night with a run scored and an RBI.

Sioux Falls 7, St. Joe 4

Sioux Falls pounded out 10 hits, plating seven runs, to beat St. Joe and improve to 9-7 in the second half, good for a tie for first place in the North Division with St. Paul. LF Chad Hermansen had a good night at the plate and continued the torrid pace he has set so far this season. He was 3-for-5 in the game, including his 13th home run of the year, with two runs scored and three runs batted in. 2B Ralph Santana was also dialed in at the plate, going 3-for-5 as well with two runs scored. 1B Abner Arroyo only had one hit, going 1-for-4, but that hit was his 24th double of the year, most in the American Association, and it drove in a run in the winning effort.

Coastal Bend 6, Fort Worth 4

Coastal Bend turned up the heat late in the game to improve its already vast gap atop the South Division standings. Aviators starting pitcher Tim McGough was solid through six innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on just three hits while striking out four to notch the win. Closer B.J. Litchfield allowed a single in the ninth, but nothing more, and picked up his sixth save of the season. Coastal Bend had four players record multi-hit games, led by SS Jack Joffrion who was 2-for-3, including a bases loaded double that drove in three runs in the sixth inning. With the win, Coastal Bend is now 10 games over .500 just 16 games into the second half.
