X's Make It Twelve Wins In A Row With 9-4 Victory At The Birdcage

The Sioux City Explorers win once more, making it twelve straight victories with the 9-4 win Sunday evening at the Birdcage.

In the second inning, X's second baseman Ryan Court ripped a double into the gap, advanced to third on a Tommy Mendonca base hit and scored on a sacrifice-fly to right hit by Matt Koch, to take the early 1-0 lead over Sioux Falls.

Sioux City kept the runs coming in the fifth, plating six runs on six hits. Ryan Court knocked in the first with an RBI single, Menconca singled to score runners from second and third, and then a Tim Colwell three-run dinger sent the final three home to make it 7-0 after five innings.

Ryan Court hit a solo-shot in the seventh to give the X's eight runs, but Sioux Falls would match the run in the bottom half with a home run of their own. RJ Perucki led-off with a solo-homer to cut the lead 8-1 after seven.

In the eighth, the Canaries cut the lead to five runs with a two run RBI single by Jason Repko to make it 8-3. Both the X's and Canaries scored a run in the ninth to make it 9-4, which went on to be the final score of the game.

Explorers starter John Straka (9-1) got the win going seven innings with three runs allowed and five strikeouts. Sioux Falls right-hander Jeremy Strawn (2-11) was charged with the loss allowing seven runs on thirteen hits.

Sioux City had seven batters finish the night with double-digit hits. X's second baseman Ryan Court had himself a three hit night with a double, a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Left-fielder Tim Colwell went 2 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored.
