X's Fall in Game One of Series to AirHogs

Sioux City, IA - The Sioux City Explorers fall in game one of their three game series vs Texas, 4-2 at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Texas plated the first two runs of the game, scoring a run in each of the first two innings. AirHogs third baseman Austin Gallagher, knocked in the first run of the game with an RBI single. Texas second baseman Brian Bistagne, homered with no one on, extending their lead to an early 2-0. Explorers answered with a couple runs of their own in the third. With a runner at second base and only one out, X's right fielder Michael Lang ripped a triple in the gap, scoring a run and cutting the lead to a lone run. Land scored on the next at-bat on a Noah Perio RBI double to tie it at 2-2.

AirHogs retook the lead in the top of the sixth. Texas shortstop Juan Sanchez knocked in an unearned run from third base, off a sacrifice-fly hit to left field, retaking the lead 3-2 after six innings.

The Texas AirHogs went on to score one more run in the contest to take the 4-2 victory over the Explorers at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park.

Sam Martin (1-1) received the win for the AirHogs, allowing two runs in six innings pitched. AirHogs closer Carlos Missell (s-3) got the save on the night, pitching a scoreless ninth inning to clinch the victory for Texas.

Explorers starter Cody Forsythe (2-2) finished with a no decision, going 5.1 innings with two runs allowed, on seven hits and three walks. X's right-hander Rob Wort (0-2) was charged with the loss, giving up one run in 1.2 innings while walking four.
