
Xavier Rathan-Mayes Signs 10-Day Contract with Memphis Grizzlies

WHITE PLAINS, NY - Xavier Rathan-Mayes of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, has signed a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. Rathan-Mayes is Westchester's third call-up of the season and joins Langston Galloway (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 7, 2015), Thanasis Antetokounmpo (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 29, 2016), Jimmer Fredette (called up to the New Orleans Pelicans on Nov. 10, 2015 and to the New York Knicks on Feb. 22, 2016), Chasson Randle (called up to the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 10, 2017 and to the New York Knicks on Feb. 27, 2017), Trey Burke (called up to the New York Knicks on Jan. 14, 2018), and Nigel Hayes (called up to the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 19, 2018) as the seventh player in the Westchester Knicks' history to sign with an NBA team.
Rathan-Mayes (6-4, 210) joined Westchester as an affiliate player after attending training camp with the New York Knicks. He appeared in three preseason games for the Knicks, scoring two points in 28 minutes, after participating in the 2017 NBA Summer League in Orlando, FL to average 6.0 points and 3.5 assists over 17.8 minutes in four games.
In 39 games for Westchester this season, Rathan-Mayes averaged 16.6 points with 7.1 assists and 6.4 rebounds over 35.7 minutes per game. He posted the franchise's first-ever triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds on Dec. 8, 2017 and scored a career-high 34 points on Feb. 10, 2018. At this time of his signing, Rathan-Mayes' average of 7.1 assists per game was eighth overall in the NBA G League and he stood at fifth in the league in steals per game with an average of 2.05.
Rathan-Mayes played three seasons at Florida State University, averaging 12.4 points and 4.5 assists over 30.5 minutes in 100 games. He was selected to the All-ACC Defensive Team as a Florida State junior and named All-ACC Honorable Mention and All-Freshman Team as a freshman. Rathan-Mayes is fourth in Seminoles history with 451 career assists, 13th with 127 three-pointers and tied for 24th with 1,236 points. He represented his native country of Canada as a member of the Canadian National Team in 2017 and was a part of Canada's Junior National Team in the 2013 U19 FIBA World Championship and 2012 U18 FIBA U18 Americas.
