San Jose, CA. - Seven dominant innings from Jack Wynkoop helped the Modesto Nuts to a 6-0 victory over the San Jose Giants on Thursday night to end a seven-game losing streak.
Wynkoop (W, 1-1) used just 73 pitches to toss seven scoreless frames. He stuck out five, did not walk a batter and worked around seven hits.
The Nuts (5-10; 31-54) jumped on the board with a pair of timely hits in the second inning against Giants' (7-8; 46-38) starter Jason Forjet (L, 8-6). Drew Weeks whacked a two-out double before Josh Fuentes drove him in with a RBI double down the right field line. Weeks reached three times with two doubles and a walk.
Wes Rogers added to the lead with a two-run double in the third. Forrest Wall recorded two hits and drove in a run in the fifth on a sac fly.
Forjet tossed seven innings and allowed four runs with no walks and five strikeouts.
