THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia split a doubleheader with Lexington on Saturday, falling 2-0 in game one and rallying for a 4-3 win in the nightcap. Power starter John Kuchno allowed two runs on six hits over five and a third in the first game to take the loss. West Virginia managed to get at least one runner aboard in every inning but could not generate any offense. In game two, Lexington built a 3-2 lead after six innings, scoring all three runs off spot starter Jason Creasy. In the top of the seventh, Junior Sosa reached on an error and Josh Bell drove the first pitch from Alec Mills out of the park for a 4-3 advantage. Tom Harlan pitched four innings of shutout relief for the victory.

RIVALRY WEEK AND A HALF: The Power have played the Legends more than any other club since 2005, going 80-77 over 157 games. Neither team has a winning record at home in this series with West Virginia going 44-38 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The Legends hold a 39-36 edge at Appalachian Power Park, where the series resumes later this week. Lexington comes to Charleston to for a four game set starting Thursday evening.

HISTORY REPEATED: Power manager Michael Ryan was ejected twice on Saturday. West Virginia's skipper was ejected by umpire Travis Godec in the sixth inning of game one after arguing two calls. Pitching coach Jeff Johnson was also ejected at the end of game one. When the managers exchanged lineup cards prior to game two, Ryan continued his argument and was again tossed by Godec. The last six ejections involving a Power player or staff member have occurred in Lexington. Kirk Singer was the last West Virginia player to be tossed, June 13, 2012, the day after former manager Rick Sofield's first of two ejections in Lexington. Sofield was also ejected here on August 11.

10 K GOLD: Tyler Glasnow's ten strikeouts on Tuesday set a new single-game high for a Power pitcher this season, surpassing Joely Rodriguez's Opening Day tally of eight against the Asheville Tourists. Glasnow's performance also marked the first time a Power pitcher had struck out double digit batters in any game since May 19, 2010 when Kyle McPherson retired 10 Delmarva Shorebirds on strikes.

DON'T BLINK: Thursday's defeat at Lexington was completed in one hour and 43 minutes. It ranks as the fastest nine-inning game in West Virginia Power history by nine minutes. On September 3, 2012, Zack Von Rosenberg pitched a complete game in a 4-1 Power win over Delmarva in one hour and 52 minutes. It is the second time the Power have played a game in under two hours this season (1-0 loss at Savannah on 4/27 in one hour and 57 minutes).

CASTRO HONORED: On Monday, the South Atlantic League named Orlando Castro as its' Pitcher-of-the-Week for April 29- May 5. The southpaw pitched six shutout innings on Friday in West Virginia's 3-0 win over Greensboro, striking out seven and walking none. Castro is 3-2 this season with 29 strikeouts and just one walk over 33 innings pitched and joins Stetson Allie as the second Power player to be awarded by the league this season (April 4-14).

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 18: The Power will host their annual WVU night on May 18 against Lexington. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Geno Smith bobblehead. All fans will have the chance to meet and greet Kevin Jones, Truck Bryant, and Da'Sean Butler. WVU Night is present by the WV Army National Guard.

POWER POINTS: Pittsburgh promoted former Power pitcher Duke Welker to the active 25-man roster on Wednesday and optioned him back to Indianapolis earlier today to make room for Francisco Liriano. Welker did not appear in any games while on the active roster... West Virginia used Jason Creasy in a spot start Saturday evening, marking the first time this season that someone outside the original rotation at Opening Day Started a game... Saturday's doubleheader crowd of 6,860 was the largest that West Virginia has played in front of this season either home or away.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh bested the New York Mets 11-2 Saturday. Francisco Liriano made his Pirates debut, striking out nine over five and a third in the win... Indianapolis held off Toledo 8-5... Altoona split a twinbill with Richmond, falling 5-0 and winning 5-3... Bradenton fell 4-1 to Charlotte. Zack Dodson took the loss after allowing two runs over six innings in his second start of the season.
