West Virginia Gains Series Split with 6-2 Win

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Tyler Glasnow struck out nine batters in five innings and Dilson Herrera hit a two-run homer as the West Virginia Power gained a split of a four-game series with a 6-2 win over the Lexington Legends Sunday afternoon.

The Power scored a run in the first inning. Max Moroff led off with a walk and then stole second base. He moved to third on an error by right fielder Ethan Chapman when Chapman dropped the ball after making a catch on a fly ball hit by Herrera. After Josh Bell walked, Moroff scored as Stetson Allie grounded into a force play at second base.

West Virginia added a run in the third on singles by Herrera and Bell, a walk to Wyatt Mathisen and a base hit by D.J. Crumlich.

The Legends got on the board in the bottom of the third when Chapman walked, moved to second on a balk, stole third and came home on an infield hit by Bubba Starling.

The Power added single runs in the fourth and fifth to build the lead to 4-1, and Herrera capped the West Virginia scoring with a two-run homer in the seventh.

The Legends scored a run in the ninth on a single by Jin-Ho Shin, a passed ball and a double by Chapman.

Glasnow (3-0) allowed two hits and one run in five innings and kept his earned run average at 1.80 for the season. Legends starter Aroni Nina (0-2) took the loss. He allowed four runs, two earned in five innings.

The Legends remain at home to open a three-game series against the Kannapolis Intimidators, an affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Game time Monday night is 7:05 p.m.
